मार्कण्डेयजीपर श्रीभगवान् शंकरकी कृपा पहलेसे ही थी।
पद्मपुराण उत्तरखण्डमें आया है कि इनके पिता मुनि
मृकण्डने अपनी पत्नीके साथ घोर तपस्या करके भगवान्
शिवको प्रसन्न किया था और उन्हींके वरदानसे मार्कण्डेयको
पुत्ररूपमें पाया था। भगवान् शंकरने उसे सोलह वर्षकी ही आयु
उस समय दी थी। अतः मार्कण्डेयकी आयुका सोलहवाँ वर्ष
आरम्भ होनेपर मृकण्डु मुनिका हृदय शोकसे भर गया।
पिताजीको उदास देखकर जब मार्कण्डेयने उदासीका कारण
पूछा, तब मृकण्डने कहा–'बेटा ! भगवान् शंकरने तुम्हें सोलह
वर्षकी ही आयु दी है, उसकी समाप्तिका समय समीप आ पहुँचा है,
इसीसे मुझे शोक हो रहा है।' इसपर मार्कण्डेयने कहा-'पिताजी !
आप शोक न करें। मैं भगवान् शंकरको प्रसन्न करके ऐसा
यत्न करूंगा कि मेरी मृत्यु हो ही नहीं। तदनन्तर माता-पिताकी
आज्ञा लेकर मार्कण्डेयजी दक्षिण समुद्रके तटपर चले गये और
वहाँ विधिपूर्वक शिवलिङ्गकी स्थापना करके आराधना करने
लगे। समयपर 'काल' आ पहुँचा। मार्कण्डेयजीने कालसे कहा-'मैं
शिवजीका मृत्युञ्जय-स्तोत्रसे स्तवन कर रहा हूँ, इसे पूरा कर लें,
तबतक तुम ठहर जाओ ।' कालने कहा-‘ऐसा नहीं हो सकता ।'
तब मार्कण्डेयजीने भगवान् शंकरके बलपर कालको फटकारा ।।
कालने क्रोधमें भरकर ज्यों ही मार्कण्डेयको हठपूर्वक ग्रसना चाहा,
त्यों ही स्वयं महादेवजी उसी लिङ्गसे प्रकट हो गये। हुँकार भरकर
मेघके समान गर्जना करते हुए उन्होंने कालकी छातीमें लात मारी।
मृत्यु देवता उनके चरण-प्रहारसे पीड़ित होकर दूर जा पड़े।
भयानक आकृतिवाले कालको दूर पड़े देख मार्कण्डेयजीने
पुनः इसी स्तोत्रसे भगवान् शंकरजीका स्तवन किया

Marcandeyaji was already blessed with
Lord Krishna's grace. Padmapuraan has
come in Uttarakhand that his father Muni
Murinda had pleaded with Lord Shiva for his
extreme austerity and found his friend Merkandeya
in son-in-law. God Shankar gave him sixteen years
of age at that time. Therefore, the birth of the
Markandeya 16th year, the birth of sixteen year
old mother Munikika was full of mourning.
When looking at the sadness of the father,
Markandeye asked the reason for the sadness,
then Muruka said, 'Daughter! Lord Shankar has
given you the age of sixteen years, his deadline has
arrived at the time, I am feeling sorry for that. ' Markandeye
said on this, 'Father! You do not grieve. I will do my
best to please God Shankar and I will not die.
Immediately after ordering the parents, Markandeya
went to the coast of the South Sea and there worshiped
the statue and worshiped there. The 'time' arrived
at the time. Markandeyeji said to Kalas- 'I am commemorating
Shivaji's death, I have done this, till you complete it,
then you should stay.' Kalle said, 'This can not happen.
' Then, Markandeyaji rebuked Chalka after
Lord Shankar. Mahadevji manifested itself in
the same way as he wanted to grind Markandeyeo by
filling in anger. While shouting like a cloud,
he kicked in a chunky chest. The god of death
will suffer from their stages and go away. See

महर्षि दुर्वासा Maharishi Durvasa

                             महर्षि दुर्वासा महर्षि दुर्वासा अत्रिमुनिके पुत्ररूपमें भगवान् शंकरके अंशसे उत्पन्न हुए थे। अतः ये रुद्रावतार नामसे भी प्रसिद्ध हैं। प अपने परमाराध्य भगवान् शंकरमें इनकी विशेष भक्ति थी । ये भस्म एवं रुद्राक्ष धारण किया करते थे। इनका स्वभाव अत्यन्त ? उग्र था। यद्यपि उग्र स्वभावके कारण इनके शापसे सभी भयभीत रहते थे तथापि इनका क्रोध भी प्राणियोंके परम कल्याणके लिये ही होता रहा है। एक समय महर्षि दुर्वासा समस्त भूमण्डलका भ्रमण करते हुए पितृलोकमें जा पहुँचे । वे सर्वाङ्गमें भस्म रमाये एवं रुद्राक्ष धारण किये हुए थे । हृदयमें पराम्बा भगवती पार्वतीका ध्यान और मुखसे–‘जय पार्वती हर' का उच्चारण करते हुए कमण्डलु तथा त्रिशूल लिये दुर्वासामुनिने वहाँ अपने पितरोंका दर्शन किया। इसी समय उनके कानों में करुण-क्रन्दन सुनायी पड़ा। वे पापियोंके हाहाकारमय भीषण रुदनको सुनकर कुम्भीपाक, रौरव नरक आदि स्थानोंको देखनेके लिये दौड़ पड़े। वहाँ पहुँचकर उन्होंने वहाँके अधिकारियोंसे पूछा‘रक्षको ! यह करुण-क्रन्दन किनका है ? ये इतनी यातना क्यों

भगवती सावित्रीकी शिव-पूजा । पितामह ब्रह्माकी पत्नी देवी सावित्रीने लोकोपकारके लिये दर्शन देते हैं। आपका दर्शन करनेके अनन्तर प्राणीको पुनर्जन्म प्रभासक्षेत्रमें भगवान् शंकरके लिङ्गकी स्थापना कर उनकी एवं मरणका भय नहीं रहता और फिर उसको कुछ जानना भी विधिवत् पूजा की। इसके बाद इन्द्रियोंको वशमें करके अन्न- शेष नहीं रह जाता।। जलतक त्यागकर केवल वायुका आश्रय ले वे भगवान् इस प्रकार सावित्रीकी स्तुति सुनकर और उनके आशुतोषके ध्यानमें तल्लीन हो गयीं। | अन्तःकरणका अभिप्राय जानकर ब्रह्मेश्वर भगवान् शिव | सावित्रीकी तपस्यासे प्रसन्न होकर हाथमें त्रिशूल लिये बोले–‘जो मनुष्य पूर्णिमा तिथिको चन्दन, पुष्प आदि दयासागर भगवान् शिव प्रकट हुए। अपने अभीष्ट देवका उपकरणोंसे तुम्हारे द्वारा स्थापित इस शिवलिङ्गका विधिवत् । दर्शनकर सावित्रीने पुलकित होकर उन्हें प्रणाम किया और स्तुति पूजन करेगा । उसको मैं उसके मनचाहे वरदान दूंगा। अबसे करने लगीं। वे बोलीं-'हे देव ! यह जगत् आपसे उत्पन्न मैं अपने अंशसे इस लिङ्गमें निवास करूंगा। इसका पूजन होता है और अन्तमें आपहीके द्वारा नष्ट भी हो जाता है। आप कर

अग्निदेवपर भगवा एक समय श्रीमहादेवजी अनेकों देवोंके साथ तीर्थयात्रा करते-करते 'भृगुकछ' नामक तीर्थमें पहुंचे। वहाँ अग्निदेव कठिन तपस्या कर रहे थे। वे अनेकों रोगोंके कारण वहत दु:खी थे। रोगसे उनकी आँखें पीली पड़ गयी थीं। रोगोंसे ऊटकारा पानेके लिये वे सैकड़ों वर्षोंसे महेश्वर शिवकी आराधना कर रहे थे। देवोंने प्रार्थना की कि 'हे देवदेव ! ये अग्निदेव हमलोगोंके मुख हैं, इन्हींके द्वारा हमलोगोंको हविषके रूपमें भोजन मिलता है। इन्हें इस समय अनेक रोगोंसे कष्ट हो रहा है। हे प्रभो ! इनका रोग दूरकर आप हम सबकी रक्षा कीजिये। उस समय व्याघ्राम्बर पहने, सारे शरीर में विभूति रमाये, अनेक सर्पोको देह भरमें लपेटे, जटाजूटधारी, परम कल्याणकारी शिवजीके दर्शन अग्निदेवने भी किये और वे उनके दर्शनसे कृतार्थ होकर स्तुति करने लगे। उनकी भावमयी स्तुतिसे प्रसन्न होकर भगवान् शिवने कहा कि :- 'हे अग्ने ! मैं तुम्हारी तपस्यासे अत्यन्त प्रसन्न हूँ। जो वर माँगना हो, माँग लो।' ऐसे आनन्दप्रद वचन सुनकर अग्निदेवने हाथ जोड़कर निवेदन किया कि “हे विरूपाक्ष ! मैं अनेक रोगोंसे पीड़ित हैं और अ
